Watch Our New STEM Video

Posted on May 14th, 2018 in: Blog

We’re thrilled to share our newest short video on our “STEM Pathways” project. This video highlights an initiative we launched in 2017 to create meaningful job and expanded learning opportunities for students across rural Vermont. Funded in part by J. Warren and Lois McClure Foundation, we partnered with five afterschool programs to train high school students who then taught in local afterschool programs. Project goals included:

  • Training high school students in rural areas to deliver content around science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to their local afterschool and summer learning programs.
  • Supporting older youth in the work-based learning process by helping them to develop job skills, improve their instructional practices, as well as connecting them to different career paths.
  • Providing jobs for high school students who will receive compensation for their time and are located in areas of the state where finding part-time work can be challenging for youth.
  • Increasing access to STEM programs during the out-of-school time for elementary school age children.

Thank you to Mondo Mediaworks for their outstanding video production, as well as to all the afterschool program staff and students for their participation in this exciting project.
