Thank you to everyone who braved the snowy roads for the annual Afterschool & Summer Learning Day on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
Every year we invite middle and high school students to come to the State House as Afterschool Youth Ambassadors alongside the Afterschool & Summer Learning Day. And this year we had a good problem: too many students wanted to come. We had a new record with over 60 youth signing up and many sent in video clips ahead of time about why afterschool matters to them.
In their own voices, here’s the 2017 afterschool youth ambassador video!
Numerous youth and programs across the state sent in video clips. From Onward to AIM to Unbound, check out the the full (and fantastic) video library of the 2017 Afterschool Youth Ambassador videos here:
This year’s Afterschool & Summer Learning Day focused on the Zap the Gap campaign, a statewide advocacy effort to create a dedicated public funding source for afterschool and summer learning programs. The 2017 adult agenda is available here and youth ambassador agenda here.
